LOADING SUPERVISION OF CORN IN SEATTLE, USA

WE PERFORMED LOADING SUPERVISION OF CORN/MAIZE IN SEATTLE, USA.

OWNERS APPOINTED US AS PROTECTIVE SURVEYORS, OUR MISSION WAS TO PERFORM:

-HOLDS INSPECTION JOINTLY WITH SHIPPER’S SURVEYORS, TO ASSIST ON APPROVAL;

-INITIAL/FINAL DRAFT SURVEYS;

-LOADING SUPERVISION;

-SEALING OF HOLDS ACCESS [HATCH COVERS & MANHOLES] UPON COMPLETION OF LOADING;

THE SURVEY WAS SUCCESSFULLY CARRIED OUT, BEING ALL HOLDS APPROVED IN SEATTLE’S ANCHORAGE.

THE LOADING OPERATION WAS HELD SMOOTHLY AND MASTER DULY ASSISTED DURING THE ENTIRE PORT STAY.

IMPORTANT OBSERVATION/AWARENESS: SEATTLE PORT DOES NOT ALLOW CARGO SAMPLING [EVEN ON BOARD].

WE REQUESTED AUTHORIZATION BUT TERMINAL DENIED, ALLEGING THAT ONLY SHIPPER’S SURVEYORS HAS AUTHORIZATION TO PERFORM CARGO SAMPLING DURING LOADING.

WE EXPLAINED THAT WE WERE APPOINTED BY THE OWNERS AND WE WOULD CARRY OUT SAMPLING FROM VESSEL’S HOLDS, HOWEVER, TERMINAL STILL DID NOT ALLOW.




SHORTAGE ON BUNKER SUPPLY IN MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE [IMPORTANT AWARENESS!!!]

YESTERDAY [21/JUNE] WE PERFORMED BQS ON A VESSEL AT MAPUTO ANCHORAGE, IN ORDER TO SUPERVISE THE BUNKER SUPPLY.

WHEN THE SUPPLY WAS “COMPLETED” WE HELD THE FINAL SOUNDING OF VESSEL’S TANKS AND NOTED A SHORTAGE OF 18.985 MT.

1) BUNKER DELIVERY RECEIPT QUANTITY: 750.000 TONS

2) QUANTITY RECEIVED ON VESSEL: 731.015 TONS

DIFFERENCE (2-1): 18.985 (LESS/SHORTAGE)

WE SOUNDED VESSEL’S TANKS 3X, OPENED THE TANKS ELLIPSIS TO CHECK FOR CAPPUCCINO EFFECT [NO BUBBLES COULD BE FOUND = NO CAPPUCCINO EFFECT].

WE REQUESTED BARGE TO AMEND THE BDN FIGURE TO THE REAL QUANTITY AS PER SOUNDING, BUT THEY REFUSED.

WE ISSUED LETTER OF PROTEST ATTESTING THE SHORTAGE.


DISCHARGING OF BREAK BULKS IN VITORIA PORT, BRAZIL

WE ARE ATTENDING IN VITORIA PORT [BRAZIL] FOR DISCHARGING SUPERVISION OF BREAK BULKS ON A DAILY BASIS.

OUR SURVEYORS PERFORM A THOROUGH INSPECTION OF THE BREAK BULKS BEFORE DISCHARGING, IN ORDER TO SEARCH FOR PRE-EXISTING DAMAGE, AND SUPERVISE THE COMPLETE DISCHARGING OPERATION FULL TIME, IN ORDER TO REGISTER ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE STEVEDORE/PORT OPERATORS.
